My frothing anticipation for Saints Row: The Third came out of nowhere. One minute I was listening to the HAWPcast and Anthony Burch made some reference to a new video out. I didn’t really bother to even put it on my schedule, and then some footage and amusing pictures started to appear. Then some more, and more.
The next thing I know Saints Row has an in-game radio station hosted by Adult Swim, has questionable celebrity voices by Hulk Hogan and Sasha Grey, a Tron level where you become a toilet… and these aren’t even the craziest things promised.
The game skyrocted up my wanted list and proves to me that you can market crazy.
Well I have had the good fortune to play the game alongside fellow Arcadian Guillaume and we liked it a lot, to the point where we thought it best to express our enjoyment via the medium of imagery and song, behold the Arcadian Rhythms mock advert. Praise Genki.
The character customisation is pretty phenomenal with a broad range of characters available. The one I am most fond of – which Shaun and Dylan can probably agree that she rocks – is my interpretation of Brody Dalle.
Expect a review in the upcoming week. Enjoy your weekend.
As mentioned in the blurb, the track is by a band called Madnomad, if you like the track the rest of the album Tamper Evident is completely different. For more info see here.

As I mentioned to you on Twitter, I am ecstatic about this post as it reminded me of Madnomad, whom I enjoy immensely.
Yeah, Madnomad was my soundtrack to the mid 2000s, the info says it came out in 2006, which doesn't seem right as I though it was out earlier than that, given that I was still in England when it came out.
I still put Ad Nauseum, Drunkard's Song and Thanx on from time to time. Kill the Pig is pretty damn good as well.
The only shortcoming of the album is that after having watched Richard Linklater's Slackers again, you realise half his samples are from that one film
My curiosity is piqued by both Saints Row: The Third and Skyrim, I'm finding myself more an more interested by them!
Hey Gordo!
If my video, with the flaws that it has, still can't convince you to try Saints Row: The Third. Then wait for my review in about a week or so. I really liked the games but it reaches for things that Skrim never would but is never as all encompassing as Skrim.
The question is, do you want a shit-eating-grin inducing 15 hour game or a game that has consumed people's souls but doesn't have
a chase scene in which you ride a carriage pulled by a man dressed in a gimp suit, with a dildo shove up his arse and a pony's tail extension while you shoot at other people also riding similar vehicles while Kanye West's Power plays in the background
If you hadn't mentioned Kanye West you might have had me :)
I look at Saints Row as GTA meets Just Cause 2 in a head on collision and that makes me think I'll like it, Skyrim kinda reminds me of Mass Effect with swords I guess, which makes me think it could make me obsessive.
Saints Row does look like a good bit of fun!
Damnit, but it is using Kanye West in the most ironic manner possible, surely that should be a good thing?
