Know what the weekends are for?
If you answered with anything along the lines of “going out”, “having fun”, or, God forbid, “talking to people”, get out of my house.
Know what I’m going to be doing? I’m going to spend as much time as possible playing I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game.
Why? Because I’m an idiot, probably.
If you haven’t heard of I Wanna Be The Guy, consider yourself lucky. It’s a gleefully sadistic, Megaman-esque platformer that many have attempted but reasonably few have completed, mainly because it’s so head-smashingly, ball-tearingly difficult.
Disappearing platforms? Yep.
One hit kill everything? Of course.
Dead ends that can take you ages to realise you can’t bypass? Why the hell not.
This is all in the name of research, of course: Kevin’s piece on reboots (Battletoads in particular) got me thinking about difficulty in games, and how in some games the difficulty is an obstruction, whereas in other cases horrendous difficultly is the game.
It’ll be fun, right?
Oh.

You are insane. In a good way. :D
I remember Tommy telling me about this game… I wonder how far he got with it before tearing out his hair and beard.
P.S. "so slippery and hard"
Hahaha that looks evil. I want to try but fear it would turn all my hair gray with stress…then I'd tear it all out because I would probably keep playing.
Slippery and hard indeed.
I'm purposely not watching any Let's Plays either – I've seen a couple, but they were ages ago and as such I've forgotten most of the foul tricks the game plays on you.
I normally spend my weekends slippery and hard, so it probably won't be too different.
