We interrupt your regularly-scheduled lazy Sundays with some exciting news!
Okay, okay. Don’t worry. We’re not turning into yet another gaming website that just wanks on about whatever press releases we’ve been sent this week. AJ was genuinely excited about Wizorb and now I am genuinely excited that Defense Grid: You Monster is a thing. Have a juicy trailer:
Defense Grid is easily my favourite tower defence game, being a compelling mix of tower defence logistics and strategy, sumptious explodey visuals and an impressive amount of character invested in the half-senile planetary defence computer who assists you in fending off alien invaders. Portal, on the other hand, needs no introduction and features easily my favourite half-senile murder testing computer.
Valve always seem to be keen to try out new ideas and a crossover between one of their famous settings and that of another developer could be a fruitful one. In fact, we already know that it’s rather fun, given that during the Halloween sale Defense Grid fans could play two all-new levels featuring lovable sociopath GLaDOS.
If you’ve not yet played Defense Grid but fancy getting some tower defence practice down you before You Monster emerges in a few days, the game is available on both Steam and XBLA. PC gamers may want to hold off for a bit until Defense Grid almost inevitably goes on sale at some point during the festive season. (Do try to resist buying all of the games again this year, eh?)

I know one person who will love this.
No one said it wouldn't be devilishly hard!
The AI is so delightfully British I'm surprised it isn't powered by tea, cucumber sandwiches and half-forgotten memories of brutal imperialism. I love it.
